What is Road-Force Tire Balancing
Road force balancing measures the uniformity of the tire and wheel assembly, detecting bulges, high, low, and hard spots missed by regular high-speed tire balancing machines.
Regular high-speed balancing measures and corrects the dynamic balance of the tire and wheel that’s felt as a shimmy on the highway between 65-75 mph.
So if your new tires shimmy on the highway, or don’t feel as smooth as they should, you probably need road-force optimization using a road-force wheel balancer, like the Hunter Road-Force Elite.
At Kenwood Tire, we use the Hunter -Road-Force Elite wheel & tire balancer to measure and optimize every new tire we install — That’s because tires and wheels are not perfectly round and randomly mounting a tire, without knowing where to position it on the wheel is causes vibrations, even when the tire is high-speed balanced.
And we only want to do the job once! If your tire shop says the tires are OK, but you’ve still got a shimmy, they’re probably not checking and optimizing the road-force.
When a chain store put 4 new General tires on this 2007 Mustang, there was a vibration around 65 mph. After going back 3 times, wasting time, they were referred to us.
This is how we found and fixed that the vibration, which was due to excessive road force variation in 3 of the 4 tires…
This is how we optimize the tires by match mounting.
The end result was 4 tires performing as they should and a happy customer!
